Ascend Aide Team!
Aide services provide support for the child and their families as they work on their therapy goals! They implement specific strategies that are provided by the therapists on your child's team! Our aides bring activities with them to work on goals through play-based activities and always keep it fun! Our aides work within your home or within the community for outings to work on social skills!

Hi! My name is Emily! I am a third year kinesiology student, with a focus on mind sciences. After my undergrad, I hope to pursue a career in therapy or counseling. I love being around children and I love working with the ascend team! Some of my favorite activities include playing volleyball, going for walks/hikes with my dog, swimming & playing card games with my family!
Becky
Hi I'm Rebecca! (but you can call me Becky). I have been working with children and families since 2014, and have a diploma in Early Childhood Education. I especially enjoy busy, physically active, and messy play opportunities and have a deep love for using music and art to support my work with children, so be sure to let me know your family's favourite songs! I grew up just outside of Edmonton and have recently moved to Cochrane to get as much time in the mountains as possible. If I'm not at work, you can find me writing music, hiking, or snowboarding.

Hi! My name is Michelle! I’m from Medicine Hat, and I moved to Calgary a year and a half ago. I have a speech therapy assistant diploma from Medicine Hat College, I’m newly married this past fall, and I’ve been at Ascend Pediatrics for one year! I love my job working with kids, and I’m a big fan of crafting.

Hey! My name is Steph and I’m a behavioural aide. I have a puppy and 2 cats, and we love to be outdoors! I like to swim, dance, play board games, and spend time with my family. My favourite season is fall, because I get to drink tea and play in leaves.

Hi, My name is Janessa! I am from Forestburg, AB and have moved to Calgary to attend the University of Calgary, majoring in Community Rehabilitation. I have a Physical and Occupational Therapy Assistant Diploma from MacEwan University. I have loved working with children and seeing how play positively impacts their development. I enjoy cooking, swimming, and skiing during my free time. A life goal of mine is to travel to each continent and explore as many countries as possible.

Hey, I'm Layna! I was born in Ukraine and moved to Canada at the age of six years old. Along with working as an Aide, I am currently in my third year of Health and Physical Education in the Physical Literacy program at Mount Royal University, in the hopes of pursuing a career in Occupational Therapy. In the summer I love camping, golfing, hiking and being outside as much as possible. During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, staying active and watching movies!

Hello! I'm Sarah, an SLP-hopeful who's been with Ascend since January 2022, and I've loved seeing the clinic grow since then! I've learned a lot so far and I can't wait to see where it takes me next. When I'm not working or at school, I enjoy hanging out with my menagerie of pets at home, painting, and reading. A fun fact about me is that I'm a certified scuba diver, and have dove with sharks before!

Hey! I am Delaney! I just graduated from McMaster University with an honours science degree in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behavior and specialized in mental health. I played varsity soccer during my time there, and I used to coach a lot of soccer in the summers. Some of my hobbies include camping, paddleboarding and trying out new restaurants whenever I can. A fun fact about me is that I have two french bulldogs!

Hi my name's Jared, I'm a recent graduate of Mount Royal University with a bachelor's degree in Physical Literacy. I am an active individual who loves hiking, working out, and playing a variety of sports. With curling being my main passion where I hope to compete in the Olympics one day. In my spare time I love hanging out with my dog, playing fetch/catch in the park, as well as a cozy day in watching movies.

Hi, I'm Keri. I've just moved here from sunny Australia and I'm so excited to join the Ascend team! I love all things movement and have completed 8 marathons. When I'm not working, you'll find me with my dog getting lost in the mountains
